Playabl, Inc. is seeking an Engineer to program gameplay, environment and UI features, for games starring expressive, personality-rich 3D characters, for a variety of platforms, including mixed-reality.
We are a startup game development studio co-located in Portland, Oregon and the SF Bay Area. Playabl’s mission is to create AI-driven interactive characters with dynamic, real-time aliveness, that converse naturally with players in spoken English, using speech recognition.
What You’ll Do:
Program and debug gameplay, environment, and UI features, in Unity
Test and refine systems throughout the development cycle of the project
Work closely with designers, artists and animators in the development of features
Implement game analytics system
Write clear, maintainable, portable code
What We Seek:
At least 3 years experience and 2 shipped titles as an Engineer in the software or video game industry
Exceptional C++/C#/Java design and programming skills
Proven outstanding debugging and technical problem-solving skills
Bachelor’s degree or greater in computer science or similar discipline, or equivalent experience through professional game development, indie projects, or mods
Experience with the Unity engine
Assertive and outstanding team player
Comfortable prototyping and working with an iterative development process that changes rapidly
Ability to work productively remotely as needed
Proficiency with Pivotal, Jira or similar production tracking software
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
